Okay, I know i left you guys without some tips on playing the clarinet well :/
That's really really bad of me ><
So, I'll start with the maintenance of your instruments :D
1) Make sure all the cork grease you applied on your cork is cleanly removed when you keep your instruments!
2) WASH MOUTHPIECES PLS! Due to the swine flu breakout, safer to wash more often
3) Clear away all saliva, including those in the barrels (i know its hard, but just find a way okay?)
4) No banging of instruments against stands, so, put your stand further away!
5) Do not put your clarinet face downwards (meaning octave key facing upwards) Put in such a way where the octave key is facing the floor/table blablabla.
6) Do not do anything funny to your instrument (unscrew & stuffs)
7) always check for Air leak (KENGTENG, IMPT!)
8) Dont try dropping your instrument, if you do, i'll drop you down form the 4th floor.
9) Reeds, Change them every 1mth to avoid infection/abrasion! believe me, you'll sound better when you change your reeds,
10) Emphasize this again WASH MOUTHPIECES
Techniques
I cant really teach much cause im afraid that even some of my techniques are wrong.
So lets say you want to train tone
Simple, Long notes, there's no easy way out okays. & when you want to train tone, try using a harder reed, so that you'll use more air for a fuller sound :D
Tonguing is really die die must train de!
Do not air tongue as it's very fake!
Do the exercise that Stanley thought us, the one C-Tuning C,
For seniors, try from C-TuningC- High C.
It'll help, seriously! Just need an hour of practice!
Sight read,
Aha, this one, is the same as the rest. Our section cupboard is filled with some scores, which im sure you guys dont know! Randomly take anyone & train your sightreading!
Theory
Seniors, make sure you know your theory well, you wont want to be teaching the juniors the wrong things.
Rhythm
Troublesome one. I suggest for every pieces, Zhixin & kengteng, learn them, & try to get the rhythm right. So eg : Kengteng learn the First & Second part. The Zhixin the 3rd & bass (?)
I dont know, its up to you guys to decide :D
All the best for your MYE & also handling the section!
Remember, you can come to me for any help, but im not going to teach :x
All the best again!
